Why do we accessorize our babies?

Sunday at church one of our friends looked at Judah's shoes (the first time in 6 months that he has worn any) and asked me if he was running a race today. After we all laughed one of the guys commented on how babies didn't need shoes and such. Give 'em a diaper and a onsie and call it a day.

Saturday night we had finally had an outside temp that was below scorching. I pulled out an adorable outfit that Patrick had bought for Judah but it just didn't look "finished". I whipped out a cute pair of shoes and just like magic it became the perfect look. So he wore the shoes again for church on Sunday. Magic I tell you!


I love to see babies in hats. It's a little funny and a lot of cute. When I picked Judah up from my Mom one afternoon he was wearing one of my favorites. A minute alone with Piper and the cute little hat turned hip-hop for a fresh new style. His bib even hints to a hip-hop name...Lil Peanut.

So you can see it isn't just Mom and Dad who give babies articles of clothing they could care less about. Grandparents, big sisters and big brothers get in on it too because it's so much fun. And so darn cute!!

Kids Always Say Da-Da First

Like it or not, all of us moms know that Da-Da is going to come first. Let Daddy think it is all about him being wonderful, cool, fun and awesome. You don't have to tell him that experts say it is an easier sound to make. :-)

I knew it was inevitable so I was determined to get Judah to say it by Patrick's birthday on July 29th. I thought it would make a great 40th birthday present but I missed the mark. Patrick had him closer than ever a couple of weeks ago and the magic finally happened last Thursday. Needless to say Daddy is proud, Zac is impressed and Piper thinks he's smart. What about me, you ask? In awe of his cuteness as always. Plus I'm the one who got it on video. Go Mom!

First Day of School

St. Aloysius Catholic School

The first day of school may cause anxiety and hesitation in some kids...Piper is not one of them. She has been so excited about her new classroom at her new school that she has been driving everyone nuts. I don't think 4K has ever been such a big deal. Lucky for all of us she has an awesome teacher, Mrs. Bratton. In fact, we had the option to let her stay at her daycare for 4K/5K but Mrs. Bratton was the deciding factor. We have known her through church forever and she is possibly the sweetest person you will ever meet. Piper is always doing crazy things and now that we are adding big girl responsibilities to the mix, we are looking forward to some funny stories to share. Stay tuned.


Piper with Mrs. Bratton on Sunday August 16th. We had a parish breakfast after mass so everyone could tour the school and see the classrooms.

All the kids in 4k are new to the school so they wear name tags the first week. The teachers and older kids all learn their names and get to know them to make them feel more at home.

Here's my friend Amy holding the giant baby. Judah was just creeping up on 5 months in this picture and he is HUGE! Already wearing nothing but 9 month size clothes and obviously eating like a champ. Hmmmm, can't wait to see if he stays this big or balances out later.


Piper loves to do funny things with Judah. Either she is playing with his clothes or trying to accessorize him. Here she was getting him ready for the baby shower we were attending by seeing if her sunglasses might match the yellow outfit he was going to be putting on.
